Die Antwoord's Yo-Landi Vi$$er likes all different kinds of boys. At the start of "I Fink U Freeky" -- the latest single from everybody's favorite South African rap-rave crew -- the elfin MC shouts out to the "sexy boys, fancy boys, playboys, bad boys" before letting them all know that "I think you're freaky and I like you a lot." Given her albino-esque pallor and penchant for baby-talking her way through every rap like some possessed kewpie doll, we're guessing it's a "right back atcha" sort of situation with Yo-Landi and her dudes.
Truly living up to its promise of "freekiness," the new song off of Die Antwoord's upcoming sophomore album TEN$ION packs plenty of fat synth and a rave-ready beat that sounds stolen from the future. As Yo-Landi keeps up with her Gwen Stefani-meets-The-Chipmunks-in-outer-space vocal stylings, the beat continually slows down and speeds back up again -- sometimes banging around inside your head like a pinball gone berserk.
About a third of the way through "I Fink U Freeky," Die Antwoord's Pauly D-coiffed MC Ninja grabs the mic to brag about lounging on his "zef throne" ("zef" meaning "redneck" in Afrikaans, for all the unschooled out there). Finally, toward the end of the track, Yo-Landi takes a cue from the Ol' Dirty Bastard and gives her love to the "ugly boys" before faux-innocently announcing that "We gonna have a nice time, kids!" Never before has a nice time sounded so utterly terrifying, but we're totally down to come along for the ride.
TEN$ION drops Feb. 7.
