Watch The Exclusive Making Of Katy Perry's 'The One That Got Away' (VIDEO)

MTV named Katy Perry 2011's Artist of the Year, and with good reason. As we've said before, girl is now pumping her sixth single off of 2010's Teenage Dream, and she's had a pretty epic music video to go along with each one of those songs. Her latest, "The One That Got Away," is no different.

In the video, we see a young Katy Perry visiting Grandma Katy Perry in the future, as Grandma Katy Perry reminisces her youth while she contemplates what might have been after the tragic passing of an ex-boyfriend. While it was totally sad and stuff, it was also a really cool music video! "The One That Got Away" is grand and sweeping, but also pretty and poignant, as it renders viewers thinking about their own exes, making them reach for the phone (or shake their head in approval -- "Nope, totally made the right choice that time.").

Lucky for you guys, we've got exclusive footage from the making of "The One That Got Away," and when added up, it's way longer than the video itself, which makes us feel like we just found a 50-dollar bill! In the four clips, we discover that Katy originally wrote the treatment for the video herself, but when handed over to director Floria Sigismondi, who she worked with on "E.T.," the entire concept got turned on its head to produce the video we see today.

Other points of interest: a pants-less Katy Perry, secrets behind the car crash (THAT POOR VINTAGE MUSTANG!) and Katy's penchant to launch into random accents at any given time. I also have to say that it's no surprise that I'm a sucker for a makeover montage, but Katy Perry's (seven-hour) transformation into Grandma Katy is truly fascinating. Might even beat out Cher's makeover of Tai in "Clueless" -- that's saying a lot.
