Looks like someone's got a heavily dog-eared copy of The Bell Jar stashed away somewhere. In the 2-minute teaser for the prologue to her upcoming video "Marry the Night," Lady Gaga -- both stunning and scary in shaggy brown hair, porcelain-pale skin, sickly-purple eyelids and weirdly fly orange lipstick -- takes on the persona of a patient in the midst of mental breakdown. Lying on a gurney as she's wheeled down a hallway by two nurses, Gaga delivers a voice-over monologue that's part creative manifesto. "It's sort of like my past is an unfinished painting," says Mother Monster, "And as the artist of that painting, I must fill in all the ugly holes and make it beautiful again."
Ever the fashion obsessive, Gaga next bends reality right before our eyes as she reimagines her companions' attire and gives us a red carpet-esque rundown: "Those nurses, they're wearing next season Calvin Klein and so am I. And the shoes? Custom Giuseppe Zanotti." Then she gets a little cheeky and praises the hotness of one nurse's ass, just before creepily juxtaposing images of gummy bears and blood. (Eww. Definitely switching to Raisinets next time we're at the movies.)
The complete prologue, titled "Marry The Night: The Prelude Pathétique," runs more than 7-and-a-half minutes, making the Gaga-directed "Marry the Night" her lengthiest video yet. Can't wait to see what more twisted loveliness she's got in store for us.
