As if we hadn't experienced enough excitement when we learned that Beyonce will be performing at this year's VMAs, girl has gone and one-upped herself! Queen B surprised fans with a brand new music video for her sultry hit,"1+1" from her latest album, 4. Take notes, folks. Surprising the world with music videos over night (just before your VMA performance!) is how you become a diva.
Co-directed by Beyonce herself, the ballad's video is one of her most powerful to date. Right from the start, the clip offers a close-up of the singer glistening in front of a dark background. Her eye contact, exposed shoulders, and flowing hair suggest a vulnerable side to the star that fans might miss in her often more choreographed numbers.
As "1+1" progresses, B provides more sensual poses amidst waterfalls, glitter, and soft lights while experiencing emotional bliss singing her song: "Hey, I don't know much about guns but I, I've been shot by you/Hey, and I don't know when I'm gon' die, but I hope that I'm gon' die by you." No one else shares the camera with Beyonce, making it seem like she's serenading us (dream come true!) or possibly her man, Jay-Z. When you're one of the richest women in the world, you can make expensive music video love letters for your hubby any time you so please.
Whoever it is that Beyonce's singing to in "1+1" knows hot to get her worked up, because halfway through the song she begins to cry as she pleads for someone "to make love" to her. And in case you were wondering, yes, she's one of those people who still look pretty when they sob. OF COURSE.
