It sorta seems like Mexican singer/songwriter/actress Ximena Sariñana came out of nowhere. Seemingly in the blink of an eye, girlfriend was featured in Rolling Stone España, received two Latin Grammy Award nominations, and appeared on the Spanish version of Jason Mraz's "Lucky." But you have to have a special kind of X-factor (get it?) to keep that kind of mojo going, and judging by Ximena's new video "Different," it seems like she just might.
As her first real attempt at an American crossover single, Ximena has gone the pop-song-with-an-uplifting-message route on her newest record "Different." As she sings about her uniqueness, Ximena is seen doing a number of summery things poolside: performing a synchronized towel dance with some hunks, making friends with senior citizens, and OMG there are HAND CLAPS! I have yet to meet a video that features synchronized hand claps that does does not agree with me. I dare you to find me one. 1,000 extra bonus points!
Besides the adorable-ness of the video and the song (and the way it has us clenching onto our last moments of summer for dear life), we're also loving that Ximena seems to stick by her word and march to the beat of a different drummer. Don't quote us, but we don't see a lot of sexy club videos coming from this girl any time soon, and believe it or not, that's okay! A tip of our swimming cap to you, Ximena.
