Video Premiere: Young The Giant, 'Cough Syrup'

Synchronized swimmers, glitter and a mess of fluorescent inks are at the heart of "Cough Syrup," the new video from Young the Giant, and we've got the exclusive look.

In keeping with the aquatic theme on the group's album cover, the California quintet heads to a swimming pool to hang out with a group of synchronized swimmers and a fish tank filled with various colored dyes. It's all harmless fun until the dye-filled balloons and tennis rackets come out, then it's just a glorious mess. The grace and beauty of the featured swimmers juxtaposed with numerous tanks and bottles look like a busby Berkeley musical meets high school science experiment. But somehow it works.

In the end, we get a kaleidoscopic mix of fluid human movement interspersed with snowflake-like patterns and fluorescent destruction. It's chaos theory meets an army of baseball bats, and it's giving us some very bad ideas of what to do around the office on those slow summer Fridays.

"Cough Syrup" is the second single off the band's recently released, self-titled debut album. Young the Giant are currently prepping the release of a free remix EP, featuring remixes by Tokyo Police Club and Ra Ra Riot, to the band's Facebook page next month.
