Indie Music Month Video Premiere: Mother Mother, 'The Stand'

As part of MTV's Indie Music Month, we're premiering videos from some of the most exciting artists in the indie music scene. Today, check out Canadian rock quintet Mother Mother's "The Stand," winner of the most asymmetrical haircuts and whimsical animation you'll see all month.

There's definitely a black wardrobe/white room theme going on here recently. Last week, we showed you a preview of Foo Fighters' "Rope" video, which saw the group trapped in a giant cube. Now, the members of Mother Mother don similar clothes but reveal walls animated by some bugged-out, trippy cartoonist.

The video descends into psychological chaos, with female singers Molly Guldemond and Jasmin Parkin playing doctor to lead singer Ryan Guldemond's mental patient. At one point, Ryan is shown strapped in a straitjacket looking at Rorschach tests. You may be joining him after this one.

"The Stand" is the first single off the group's upcoming third album, "Eureka," due out March 15.
