Video Premiere: Daft Punk, 'Derezzed'

When it was announced last year that there would be a sequel to the much-beloved cult sci-fi flick TRON, I was, what you might call, stoked. Becoming one with a video game is pretty much a life dream for any boy/man my age, and TRON was the closest thing I had ever seen to having that dream realized.

However, when it was later announced that the TRON sequel, TRON: Legacy, would be soundtracked by none other than motorcycle helmet-wearing French techno gods, Daft Punk, my interest levels went from stoked to practically unstable.

Seriously, anyone who can think of a better pairing than TRON's neon visuals and Daft Punk's neon beats is a much more imaginative person than I. And here's the proof in action: the premiere of the first video from Daft Punk's TRON: Legacy soundtrack, "Derezzed."

The video begins with the French funk duo entering the film's legendary Flynn's Arcade, where they promptly get sucked into the video game action. The visuals that follow combine the flick's new high-end look with the original's more lo-fi vibe. And it's done to perfection. Also, there's jousting involved. 'Nuff said.
