They grow up so fast, don’t they? “For those who don’t know me …” is the first line of Miley Cyrus’ new single, “Can’t Be Tamed.” And while it’s hard to imagine there’s a person on Earth who’s unfamiliar with one of the most popular teenagers in the world, star of stage, screen and recording studio, we are, in a way, getting to know a whole new Miley Cyrus.
Gone is the effervescent, optimistic, bubbly pop-country-rock of her formative years. Meet the new Miley. Pouting about, the attention, “like I’m under inspection,” over a thumping, squelching electro-beat. Sounds like she’s been listening to a steady diet of nothing but Britney and Gaga.
She warns off perspective suitors claiming they, “try to change me, but they realize they can’t.” Why should they bother? Miley’s changing plenty all by herself.
Check out Miley’s new song, “Can’t Be Tamed,” below. The video is due to debut Tuesday, May 4.
