Initially, Asher Roth's "Lark On My Go-Kart" stood out from the crowd because it had a monster beat and an organ loop that wouldn't quit. It also delivered on all the dirty promise of "I Love College," which, despite its mildly controversial stances, would be too PG for a Girls Gone Wild commercial. Not "Lark On My Go-Kart." That song is DIRTY! And I think it's on drugs.
It's also, presumably, a hardcore musical come-on pointed directly at Lark Voorhies, AKA Saved By The Bell's notoriously under-appreciated Lisa Turtle. And it is about time somebody came after her! How did she always get stuck with Screech? Lisa Turtle looked GOOD. Good for you, Asher Roth. Strike while the iron is hot.
But more than all that, what "Lark On My Go-Kart" has going for it is an instant-classic video. The crudely drawn cartoon is a send-up of pretty much everything wholesome about the '80s and '90s ("Like the blonde Bob Saget/ Ash can get nasty/ Pass me a blunt and some Captain/ chilling with an Ashley").
Watch as a gun-toting Teddy Ruxpin, AKA Teddy Rockspins, joins Ash on a pumpkin-smashing spree, hunting milfs and getting "butt from Miss Muffett." There goes your childhood... Finally!
