We have no idea if "repunctuate" is a word, but regardless, Panic At the Disco is taking baby steps away from becoming a Prince-like symbol and dropping the"!" from their name, claiming that the now-defunct "!" became annoying (well, yes), and that they never intended for it to become such an integral part of their band identity. (Which sounds to us like band-speak for "I was never really in love with you to begin with.") But we think the real reason is because emo pUnk2AtiN(g) is so 2005.
The decision generated total panic on the message boards, but, the boys aren't totally done with dots. In fact, they've added more profuse punctuation to the title of their next album, Pretty. Odd., the long-awaited follow-up to 2005's breakthrough album, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. "It's more fun with punctuation," explained drummer Spencer Smith. Wait, isn't that the title of one of their songs? Oh, Panic(-!). You done did it again!
