"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 76th Hunger Games."
Looks like Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin) won't get to spend much time being a blissful newlywed with his Annie because duty calls, and guess what Finn? This mission is dangerous AF.
The first film clip from "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2" was released on Thursday (Oct. 1) to celebrate the beginning of advance ticket sales at Fandango, and in it, Finnick joins Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) for an anything-but-encouraging pow wow with Boggs (Mahershala Ali) and Cressida (Natalie Dormer) about their plan to storm the Capitol.
Everyone else'll be forging ahead of Katniss' unit because they're now the official Star Squad a.k.a. "the on-screen faces of the invasion" -- because, yeah yeah, they might all have some serious combat skills to survive the arena and all, but "it's been decided that [they're] most effective when seen by the masses."
In other words, they're the literal
marshmallow-stuffed FACES of the Revolution. Harrumph.
But before they go and feel too warm and cozy about their tag-along status -- or, in Katniss' case, completely perturbed about the demotion -- there's a major caveat to consider: There is no such thing as green zone in this war. Like it or not, this team'll see some action all right.
"It is likely that we'll encounter both active pods and peacekeepers," Boggs warns his team. "You're considered high value targets to the Capitol."
And as if to say to them, "Oh you want proof, do you?" Boggs then whips out his ooooh ahhhh fancy "holo" toy and reveals all the *known* kill-you-boom-pods sprinkled all along their pathway, just itching to turn Katniss into the actual Girl on Fire.
In other words, the odds are decidedly not in their favor.
