This Guy Is Racing Time To Photograph The Pizza Huts From Your Childhood
The Pizza Huts from the good ol' days still (kind of) exist and Ho Hai Tran is photographing them.
Tran, a self-proclaimed "Pizza Hunter," is in the process of raising money for his photography book, "Pizza Hunt." The book will showcase some of the nearly 100 former Pizza Huts that Tran says he's taken pictures of in the last two years.
In his Kickstarter video, Tran explains that he fondly remembers Pizza Hut for, among other things, its unlimited pizza. He says photographing Pizza Huts of yore has been a "race against time to photograph these images before they're demolished and lost to history."
According to his video, Tran first noticed an old Pizza Hit that had been converted to a Salvation Army building in Australia. He was struck by the fact that the building still had all of the original features of the classic sit-down pizza chain he knew as a kid. Tran was then compelled to go on a global journey, which sent him to the "Home of the Hut" -- the United States. He proceeded to spend the next two years capturing former huts, which are now purposed as everything from churches to liquor stores. He hopes to raise enough money on Kickstarter to publish his photographs in a cloth-bound book, which he intends to package in (what else) a pizza box.
