Ariana Grande Goes Opera With A Surprising New Duet Partner

Get ready to hear Ari like you've never heard her before.

We all know Ariana Grande can sing her butt off — that massive register inside the petite pop star never fails to blow us away. And we also know she has a special predilection for collaborations, having worked with everyone from Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea to The Weeknd and Cashmere Cat.

But thanks to a shocking new duet, we’re getting to hear Ari sing like we’ve never heard her before.

Opera great Andrea Bocelli recruited Ariana for his upcoming album Cinema, which boasts songs from classic films. Together, they trade verses on the beautiful Italian ballad "E Più Ti Penso,” from the crime drama “Once Upon a Time In America.”

The 22-year-old holds her own against the classic tenor, showcasing her gorgeous vocals against a sweeping orchestral arrangement — and proving there’s absolutely nothing she can’t sing.

Ari now joins an elite class of vocalists who have had the honor of working with Bocelli, including Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez. She tweeted her excitement about the duet on Friday (Sept. 25), saying it means so much to her and her family.

This is the first new Ariana song to grace our ears in a while, but we’re (thankfully!) in for more tunes soon enough — her new single "Focus" drops Oct. 30.
