Brace Yourselves, 'Ready Player One' Officially Has A Female Lead

Start rocking out to 'Rebel Yell'!

We're one step closer to putting on the haptic suit and pressing start! The Steven Spielberg-directed film "Ready Player One" announced its female lead on Friday. According to The Hollywood Reporter, British actress Olivia Cooke "nabbed the female lead...and is in negotiations." The film is set to be released by Warner Bros. on Dec. 15, 2017.

"If a deal is made," Cooke will play Sam, who goes by the screen name Art3mis in the virtual world Oasis. For those unfamiliar with the storyline — it's based on the Ernest Cline novel of the same name — the plot follows Wade Watts fighting to solve a treasure hunt in a futuristic world. His clues come from '80s entertainment, and it's a must-read for all pop culture junkies.

The Hollywood Reporter also noted Cooke beat out Elle Fanning and Lola Kirke, who both tested for the role of Sam. Cooke is known for "Bates Motel," "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" and "Ouija."

Now the big question is, WHO IS GOING TO PLAY WADE?!
