Watch The Last Known 9/11 Service Dog Celebrate Her Sweet 16 In Style

She deserves this treat.

Bretagne the dog was just a baby when she was called to serve as a part of the Texas 1 Task Force for the search and rescue efforts of 9/11. According to her handler Denise Corliss, it was their first deployment.

Fourteen years later, the good people at BarkPost learned that this canine hero had a birthday coming up. They decided to make Bretagne's big day even more awesome as part of their "Dog's Best Day" web series.

Bretagne and Corliss traveled to New York City for enough burgers, car rides and park visits to make any dog delighted. The real present came when a $1,000 donation was made in Bretagne's name to her task force to train more dogs like her. Judging from her face, this is a gift that this brave dog is happy to share.

"I haven't had the opportunity to come to New York and just enjoy it in the way I got to with this trip," Corliss says. It's her love for Bretangne in the clip below that will really bring you to tears.

Happy birthday, Bretagne! We're so grateful for your service.
