The 31 ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Toys You’ve Gotta Have
It just hit midnight, so you know what that means -- today (September 4) is officially #ForceFriday, a magical day for “Star Wars” fans when every single piece of merchandise for “The Force Awakens” descends on toy stores at once in a whirlwind of fan excitement and nerdiness.
Of course, having so much stuff to sift through at once can be exhausting even for the hardcore super-fans – how are you supposed to keep track of all these things you want?
Luckily, MTV is here to point out the standout figures, games and more for you lucky nerf herders – and offer up some possible hints and teases of the movie to come that we found digging our way through all of the merch.
Furbacca, $79.99
Whether you love Furbys or find them kind of terrifying, there’s no denying that this Wookiee-Furby hybrid is pretty dang cute. He does all kinds of stuff that his regular buddies can’t, like make Chewbacca sounds and hum “Star Wars.”
Constable Zuvio 3.75-Inch Build-a-Weapon Figure, $7.99
Who’s Constable Zuvio, you ask? Well, he’s this guy. That’s all we know for sure, but we’re also guessing that maybe he’s the same race as Embo from “The Clone Wars,” and that he’s probably going to be living in Jakku somewhere when we meet him. Also, he’s super rad-looking and comes with cool customizable weapons. Even if you end up hating his character when "The Force Awakens" opens, it'll be nice to have him around just in case you feel like throwing him into walls.
“Star Wars” Bop-It
Remember how stressful and exhilarating regular Bop-It was back in the day? Now you can play it and while simultaneously taking revenge on R2-D2 for all those times he said mean stuff to C-3PO. Take that, you malfunctioning little twerp!
Hot Wheels Stormtrooper Car
First premiered at Comic-Con in July, this toy is what would happen if you took a Stormtrooper and a car and threw them at each other.
Hot Wheels BB-8 Car
And THIS is what would happen if you took BB-8 and put wheels on him. Do they make this car for real? Can I drive around in it?
Black Series Titanium Series Star Destroyer Vehicle, $4.99
If you’ve only got room on your desk for a little bit of “Star Wars” swag, this tiny spaceship model will do nicely.
“Star Wars” Catch Phrase
You know the game Catch Phrase? Have you ever wanted to play it on a machine that’s shaped like the Millennium Falcon? You’re welcome.
Micro Machines R2-D2 Battle Set, $19.99
Oh my childhood, MICRO MACHINES ARE BACK!! This set features Chewbacca facing off against some snowtropers in some kind of a wintry landscape. Hoth? Some other ice planet? Who knows?
Escape from Jakku Playset
Stylist Alphonse Neri" alt="Photographer Jeff O'Brien Stylist Alphonse Neri"]
It's almost like a "Star Wars"-themed mobile, except on the ground and totally badass.
“Star Wars” Risk
Ahh, Risk, the game that loses you friends. Maybe you’ll be able to hang on to them a little better with your shared love of “Star Wars?”
Petco BB-8 Bobble and Crackle Cat Ball Toys, $4.99
Because cats can be nerds, too. Duh. You can find them on the Petco website today, or in stores on November 8!
Petco Captain Phasma Rope Wrap Dog Toy, $12.99
Don't worry, dogs, we didn't forget about you.
C-3PO and R2-D2 3.75 Inch Figure Assortment Pack, $14.99
Check out that red arm in action!
Hero Series 12-Inch Flametrooper Figure, $9.99
Still no idea what it is a flametrooper does, but its helmet is incredible-looking. Oh, and the flamethrower, too, that's pretty great.
LEGO First Order Transporter, $89.99
My favorite thing about this LEGO set is that it's got both male and female resistance fighter minifigs attached, because "Star Wars" is for everybody! Plus, check out the sweet chrome goodness that is the Captain Phasma minifig. Bless your tiny little cape.
Captain Phasma 3.75-Inch Build-a-Weapon Figure, $4.99
I am, in fact, ready to own every single piece of Captain Phasma merchandise in existence.
Class I Deluxe Vehicle Rey’s Speeder, $24.99
Love seeing Rey all bundled up here!
Battle Action Millennium Falcon, $119.99
The mind boggles at the implications here. Where are Han and Rey? Is Finn gonna have to go rescue them while piloting Han’s ship? Or is it just a cool pair-up for a toy? Either way, I’m enthralled.
Poe Dameron’s X-Wing Vehicle, $49.99
Thanks to the product copy, we now know Poe’s position in the rebellion – he’s the leader of the Black Squadron, clearly a reference to Luke Skywalker’s Red Squadron in “A New Hope.” Wicked. Plus, he's clearly buddies with BB-8 too, because who isn't?
Finn 20-Inch Figure
It’s probably the closest thing you’ll get to hanging out with the real John Boyega, let’s be real.
Black Series Rey 6-Inch Figure, $19.99
All the new “Force Awakens” figures in the Black Series line look friggin amazing, but I’ve gotta give props to the toymakers for including a teeny, amazingly detailed BB-8 in with Rey.
Black Series First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter, $169.99
Of course, the coolest figure of the whole Black Series line is this TIE fighter pilot that comes with a to-scale TIE fighter. We saw it first at Comic-Con, but now you don’t have to wait in exhausting lines around Hall H to grab one!
LEGO “Star Wars” Millennium Falcon, $149.99
It might look like a hunk of junk, but she’s got it where it counts – and she also comes with a bunch of super adorable minifigs of Rey, Finn, BB-8, old Harrison Ford, and Chewbacca. Plus, two new characters we haven’t met yet, Tasu Leech and a member of something called the Kanjiklub Gang.
Bladebuilders Jedi Master Lightsaber, $49.99
Were you one of those nerds who scoffed at Kylo Ren’s crossguard lightsaber? Well, you try to make a better one, then! No, seriously, try it with the Bladebuilders set, which allows you to make over 100 combinations of sabers with a whole bunch of different connectable hilts and blades.
Kylo Ren Electronic Lightsaber, $29.99
Or, if you’re NOT a critic of Ren’s lightsaber, you can buy your own – and it’s compatible with the Bladebuilder set too, so you can customize it to your own nefarious First Order purposes.
Captain Phasma 20-Inch Figure
If you’re going to buying up a lot of “Star Wars” figures, it only makes sense that the character being played by Gwendoline Christie towers over the rest of them.
Remote Control BB-8, &59.99
Everyone in the MTV News office has wanted their very own circular droid since he poked his head out in the first-ever teaser trailer, and now we CAN. Of course, you’ll also need roughly your weight in AA and AAA batteries to get him running, but it’s a small price to pay for such a lovable BB.
Nerf Chewbacca Bowcaster, $24.99
Nerf guns are old and busted. The new hotness is this slick blowcaster, which is just like the one Chewbacca uses in the movies. You know, except with nerf pellets. That’s probably better.
Nerf First Order Stormtrooper Deluxe Blaster, $39.99
Actually, maybe Nerf guns aren’t so old and busted after all.
Hot Toys 1/6 Scale Kylo Ren Figure,
Hot Toys is known for its terrifyingly accurate sculpts of real-world actors and beloved franchise characters, and this Kylo Ren one is just incredible. We’re sure they didn’t just steal screen caps from the trailer, right?
BB-8 App-Enabled Droid, $150
Released yesterday all over the Internet, this version of BB will cost you a lot more than its larger companion. But it’s also so adorable and tiny, and you can control it with a phone app!
