Which Amazing Duo Should Host The 2016 Oscars?

We have a few thoughts.

It takes two -- or at least, that's what the producers of the 2016 Oscars telecast think.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, newly named producer David Hill said that there would be a duo at the core of hosting duties for the show.

“There will be multiple hosts for sure – there will be two,” he said. "Two is better than one."

He even had jokes about why a twosome is a great plan: "Just imagine, you’re in there. One of your hosts drops dead from cardiac arrest. What do you do? Second host goes on! And you keep going. … Note to self. Check out their heart rates."

Heart attacks aside, this is totally interesting news. The last time a twosome hosted was the less-than-favorably-received James Franco-Anne Hathaway show in 2011. Having a pair host can give them something to play off of, room to troubleshoot and more opportunities for bits. Possibilities abound!

If Hill is grasping for ideas, here are a few duos we'd love to see host the Academy Awards.

  1. As if this wouldn't be at the front of our minds. Schumer proved her hosting chops at the MTV Movie Awards, and Lawrence is, well. Lawrence. Enough said.

  2. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler

Yeah, slim chance that the erstwhile Golden Globes hosts would be into heading to the Oscars stage, but a girl can dream, can't she?

  3. Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus

The beef. The beef! Maybe by early 2016 the two will have mended fences from that 2015 VMAs spat.

  4. Anna Kendrick and Channing Tatum

Can you spell "Charm"? Because we can, and it looks like the smiling faces of Tatum and Kendrick. Plus, just think of the song and dance opportunities!

  5. Seth Rogen and The Rock

Unconventional, yet pleasing! Two great tastes that taste great together? 2016 could be the year to find out.

  6. Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake

The combination of Fallon and JT is a proven charming quantity, and a relatively surefire success for the Academy. We wouldn't mind it at all.

  7. Gina Rodriguez and Uzo Aduba

Movies go TV! Aduba, a cast member of "Orange Is the New Black," and the ever-lovely Gina Rodriguez ("Jane the Virgin") would make a dynamic and likable combo as hosts.

  8. Laverne Cox and Mindy Kaling

Another totally lovable, strong combo. Please, Academy? Bring us our BFFs!
