First we get a sexy poster of Michael Fassbender as Macbeth and now this? Truly the Fassbender gods smile on us today.

Via Yahoo!, the very first image of Fassbender in costume for the long-awaited "Assassin's Creed" movie was released today. And boy, is it breathtaking.

Anyone feel compelled to scale a cathedral right now, or is it just me?

Fassbender plays Callum Lynch, a character who doesn't appear in the hit video game series and was instead created specifically for the movie. All we know about him so far is that he's a descendent of a 15th century spanish assassin, Aquilar, and must relive his ancestor's experiences to obtain the skills that will help him take down the Knights Templar -- kinda like Desmond Miles did in the original game trilogy.

Of course, we're guessing this pic isn't actually of Callum Lynch himself -- Instead it's more likely that we're looking right at the assassin Aquilar, what with his fancy hidden blades and all.

Filming begins on Monday, so expect to see more images of Fassie jumping off stuff on locations across Malta, Spain and London real soon!
