Watch Taraji P. Henson Sing Motown In Never-Aired 'Saturday Night Live' Sketch

Moral of the story: when in doubt, shoop.

As Cookie Lyon, Taraji P. Henson regularly stole the show in the first season of "Empire," and will definitely be doing it again when the Lyon family returns in September. But in between seasons, she also hosted an amazing episode "Saturday Night Live" back in April -- but we didn't get to see all of it when it aired.

Now a sketch that was cut for time has surfaced on "SNL"'s official YouTube channel, and depicts Henson as a motown frontwoman who's forced to make up songs on the spot during a live television performance. Imagine if Kat and Garth -- the two singers once played by Kristin Wiig and Fred Armisen during Weekend Update sketches -- were a cute mid-'60s girl group called The Sparkelles. Yeah, you're welcome.

Come on, "SNL," why would you cut this? It's amazing. Let's hope our girl Taraji gets to sing even more when the second season of "Empire" premieres next month!
