Avril Lavigne Speaks Up About Those Taylor Swift Comparisons

Despite those meet and greet photos, Avril loves her fans just the same as anyone else.

You may remember those viral Avril Lavigne photos from her Brazilian meet & greet in 2014. You know, the ones where fans reportedly spent $400 to stand two feet away from her for a picture?

Those photos have been circulating once again in a Tumblr post comparing Avril's meet & greets with those of other artists. The top of the post features awkward photos like Avril's, while the bottom shows Taylor Swift hugging and laughing with fans. Taylor apparently "liked" the post.

But on Sunday, Lavigne told the world to stop making comparisons.

"We all love our fans," Avril wrote on Twitter, sharing a link to the Tumblr post, which also features Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Kanye West. "Comparison is judging and judging a person does not define who they are it defines who you are."

Avril continued, posting a collage of her with her Black Stars. "So let's keep it all about the love and stay positive," she wrote.

Her fans helped her through a rough lyme disease diagnosis. Recently, Lavigne gave a teary interview about her health issues, telling "Good Morning America" that her fans supported her and gave her strength while she was physically and emotionally weak.

“I sat in my bed and I watched all the videos, and I did the same thing I’m doing now, I cried through the whole thing,” she said. “I felt really loved. It sounds silly saying it but I truly did feel my fans.”
