Ice Cube's A Tough Critic: Watch Him Judge Athletes Who Try To Rap

Ice Cube gets his Simon Cowell on.

Ice Cube knows what it's like to strive in different fields.

After all, the MC has been able to succeed in music, films and business. So, recently the N.W.A icon - who is promoting the Friday (Aug. 14) release of "Straight Outta Compton" -- visited ESPN to rank athletes who've tried to rap.

Cube was accompanied by his son, O'Shea Jackson Jr., for this run. He plays his father in "Straight Outta Compton," so he knows what it's like to rhyme, but he's also a rapper named OMG. The father and son duo joined forces to critique a few athletes and here's how that went:

Kobe Bryant

"You’re the greatest. Let’s hear your rap. It’s dope, but it just sounds like he’s reading his rhymes."

Iman Shumpert

"Iman got bounce with his flow. He got flow. He a lil’ nice."

Clint Dempsey

"I don’t know, Clint. It sound like a demo. You gotta get a better studio, homie."

John Cena

"John Cena. He’s a fool…It’s a little LL right there, huh? I expected it to be a little wilder."

Deion Sanders

"This the homie, Deion Sanders. Nah. Nah."

Serena Williams

"A little Missy in there, huh? You know, she gotta get her confidence up."

Damien Lillard

"He got confidence in his rhymes. Damien Lillard got flow."

Despite some kind words, Cube had this message for everyone: "Everybody, keep your day job."
