In a world where everyone disagrees on everything (including whether or not Donald Trump should become the next president), there's one thing we all have see eye to eye on: A woman is never "asking for it."
In a compelling new video released by The Cut, women ages 18-50 are asked to react to the phrase "she was asking for it." The women interviewed unanimously disagree with the common excuse to explain away rape by placing the blame on the victim.
"Not true," says Alexa, one of the women in the video. "It doesn't matter what you look like, what she was wearing, nobody deserves to have the control of their body taken away from them without their consent."
A 48-year-old woman named Annittah sums it all up saying, "If she was asking for it, it's not rape then -- it's consent. I don't think someone would consent and then say someone raped [them]."
