19 Things I Learned About Life While Binge-Watching 'Glee'

See Mom, TV really can teach you something!

Because this is a no judgement zone, I’m going to admit something to you guys: I watched the entirety of “Glee” in three weeks. This epic binge was the result of a finals week haze and a frantic suggestion from my roommate that we watch something happy. From there, it quickly devolved into hours and hours on end, day after day, until we had devoured the entire series.

The great thing about “Glee” is that every episode comes with a life lesson gift-wrapped inside. From self-esteem to friendship, “Glee” always knew how to tackle the real issues. And when you watch the entire thing in a three week span, you absorb these lessons pretty well. So, because I’m a good friend, I put together a helpful list of all of the things that the adventures of the New Directioners can teach you.

  1. Everything can be solved through song.

And, somehow, everyone has a great voice.

  2. Or dance.
    Fox

One might say you're *dancing through life.*

  3. Not everyone will accept you for who you are.
    Fox

But that's OK, as long as you love yourself.

  4. Sass is a necessary part of life.
    Fox
  5. You can do anything if you put your mind to it.
    Fox

Even stare at a computer screen for six hours straight!

  6. Matching outfits for your entire friend group are a necessity.
    Fox
  7. Getting slushied is not as fun as it sounds.
    Glee

On the one hand, delicious slushie. On the other, brain freeze.

  8. A smile will get you through any situation.
    Fox

Even Rachel's rendition of "Run Joey Run."

  9. Your peppiness might not be accepted by everyone.
    Fox

But just remember, you are Beyoncé. You ain't no Kelly Rowland.

    Fox

    You just can't stop believin'.

  11. Sometimes you need to give someone a meaningful look.
    Fox
  12. You get knocked down.
    Fox

But you get up again. (Sidenote: why did the New Directions never cover "Tubthumping"?)

  13. You need to learn how to let go for a bit.
    Fox

Having a food fight with a hot guy is a great way to do this.

  14. Confidence is key.
    Fox

As Brittany says, "A unicorn is someone who knows they're magical and isn't afraid to show it." Be that unicorn.

  15. Swag is important too.
    Fox
  16. You can find love in the most unexpected places.
    Fox

Unless your MySpace schedule keeps you too busy to date.
