A local news team on the hunt for a casual story about the country’s newest national monument walked away with some priceless and hilarious footage after their interview got photobombed… by Sam Smith.
The singer was in Colorado yesterday (Aug. 4) to perform at Red Rocks Amphitheater on his U.S. headlining tour, and apparently decided to stake out the venue before taking the stage that night. Local Denver news station ABC 7 was also on hand because the picturesque venue was recently named a national monument. Reporters were in the middle of interviewing two women about a yoga event held there, when Smith nonchalantly slid into the frame behind them.
The reporter can be heard telling the girls, “You’re getting photobombed,” but they simply laughed along, clearly oblivious that it’s a Grammy-winning superstar hiding behind those shades. The “Lay Me Down” crooner, meanwhile, smiles, laughs, flashes the peace sign, and blissfully soaks up the sun behind them.
Smith later posted screenshots from the hilarious prank on his Instagram, succinctly captioned, “Photobombing the news.”
Oh, Sam, you jokester.
