Beyoncé Might Be Starring In A TV Musical Because Life Is Magical

Queen Bey has reportedly been offered a role in the live TV musical 'The Wiz.' YES, PLEASE.

Gather ‘round, boys and girls, and please join us in clicking our heels together three times while repeating “There’s no star like Bey. There’s no star like Bey. There’s no star like Bey…” Because maybe if we all wish and pray hard enough, the surprising reports about Beyoncé starring in NBC’s “The Wiz” might actually become real.

E! News reports that Bey has been offered the role of Glinda the Good Witch in NBC’s live musical special “The Wiz,” airing in December. The network has already started lining up a star-studded cast, including Mary J. Blige as the Wicked Witch of the West and Queen Latifah as The Wizard. So, yes, this is already shaping up to be the stuff that dreams are made of.

Locking Beyoncé down for the role would obviously be a huge get for NBC and would basically make “The Wiz” mandatory viewing. But it’s also no easy (or cheap) task, so the network is also reportedly eyeing “Orange is the New Black” star — and Broadway veteranUzo Aduba (a.k.a. “Crazy Eyes”) for the part.

“The Wiz” is a musical adaptation of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” that traditionally includes an entirely African-American ensemble. It debuted on Broadway in 1975, and the 1978 film starred Michael Jackson and Diana Ross, so it has a rich history of casting big talent.

Lest you’ve forgotten, Bey is no stranger to belting it out on film — remember her magnetic role in “Dreamgirls?” Or her retro, “foxy” musical stylings in “Austin Powers In Goldmember?” And we all know homegirl can rock the s--t out of a crown.

Anyway, if that’s not enough to convince you that Beyoncé was born for this role, let’s take a little stroll down memory lane and revisit the time a pigtailed, 7-year-old Bey performed “Home” from “The Wiz” in a talent competition. Yup, this was basically written in the stars, people.
