Meet The Student Who Dresses Up Her Friends As Zombies To Pay For College

The oddest of odd jobs.

Some students help pay for college by working at the campus dining hall or waiting tables at a local restaurant between classes. For Laura Moss, she makes money for her tuition a little differently -- as a zombie makeup artist.

In a new video released by AJ+, Moss describes how every Halloween, she uses her skills as a makeup artist to dress her friends up like zombies for the "rich" as they "hide in the dark corners of the cavernous apartment, scare the guests and then [sic] see ourselves out." She makes $1,000 for four hours of work, which according to Moss, pays more than indie films do these days.

Moss has been working since she was 13, mostly to pay for film school at NYU. And with the high cost of tuition, it's no surprise that 50 percent of college students like her are employed while enrolled in college. Moss says she's had "probably between 15 and 20 odd jobs" in her life to help finance her higher education.

See her talk more about how odd jobs keep her movie dreams alive in the clip below.
