Drake uses his Instagram account pretty strategically when it comes to music. His posts, captions, tags, follows and likes are seemingly casual, but usually hint at future projects. So when Hilary Duff gushed about Drake following her and recently liking one of her photos, we couldn't help but think (and hope!) that this acknowledgment meant something.
Don't believe me? Well, let's take a look at the history: When 18-year-old producer Wondagirl slid a beat into Drake's direct messages, he used it on his track "Used To." And remember when he captioned a photo with lyrics from up and coming rapper WIZKID's track "Ojuelegba"? The remix came out a few weeks later.
"It was important for me to make my record and really still sound like me," she said. "I love hip-hop music, but obviously I'm not gonna make a hip-hop record. But Drake liked my photo on Instagram the other day so…"
If she was presented with the opportunity to work with him, would she do it? She quickly responded, "F--k yeah, I'd be pumped. Drake's amazing. I'm such a big fan of his."
Seemingly flustered, but also proud of the fact Champagne Papi showed her some Insta-love, Hilary admitted that she did not respond back to his "like."
"I'm like the shyest person in the whole wide world. So of course I just screen-grabbed it and sent it to a bunch of my friends," she said.
While a Hilary Duff and Drake collaboration would be totally unexpected, and pretty random, it'd be really cool to see happen. It's the "Lizzie McGuire" and "Degrassi" cross-over we never knew we wanted.
