11 Selena Gomez Covers That'll Make Her Birthday More Magical

From Lorde to Justin Timberlake, here are the songs Selena has tried out for herself.

Happy birthday, Selena Gomez! The "Good For You" singer turns 23 today, and what better way to celebrate than with her own brilliance?

While she has a brand-new batch of her own music on the way (she announced her Revival album on Tuesday), Sel has a talent for making other people's songs her own. So let's take a look at the best covers she's done as we await her upcoming project.

  1. Justin Timberlake - "Cry Me A River"

This one has significance because she preempts it by saying that it "speaks to her" after having a rough year.

  2. Britney Spears - "Baby One More Time"

At the same concert in 2013, she covered one of her favorite singers growing up -- the one that inspired her to be a pop star -- Britney Spears.

  3. Katy Perry - "Roar"

Sel took on Katy's hit song during her Stars Dance Tour in Los Angeles.

  4. Katy Perry - "Hot N Cold"

She also did another Katy song, singing "Hot N Cold" in concert.

  5. Rihanna - "Birthday Cake"

The good thing about Selena having her own bday song ("tell 'em that it's my birthday when I party like thaaat") is that we have something to party to come July 22. But Selena mashed up her own song with Rihanna's during a tour stop in Winnipeg in 2013, shortly after turning 21.

  6. Taylor Swift - "You Belong With Me"

Of course Selena would cover her best friend's songs. In 2010, she took on Tay's "You Belong With Me" in Indianapolis.

  7. Taylor Swift - "I Knew You Were Trouble"

She covered not one, but two Taylor Swift songs, choosing to do this Red track a few years later.

  8. Selena - "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom"

Gomez has forever been appreciative of the late singer Selena, whom she was named after. It only makes sense that she would cover her music. Also, Selena's family had her vocals added to the track later one, so that the song could be a double Selena duet.

  9. Iggy Azalea - "Work"

Selena tried out Iggy Igg's "Work" onstage.

  10. Lorde - "Royals"

We were all excited when she covered "Royals" onstage. Hopefully the two can get together in real life?

  11. Nicki Minaj - "Super Bass"

And, just for fun, here's Selena lipsnching "Super Bass." Happy birthday!
