Well, that's precisely what happened to lucky movie goers on Sunday (July 19), when Slim and Jake showed up at AMC Livonia 20 multiplex, according to the Detroit Free Press. Yep, they just walked in and gave a brief speech like NBD.
"From the minute I saw this script, I really felt like this movie had the potential to be something special," Eminem said at the event. "We hope that you all do too."
Shady - who was initially slated to play the role Gyllenhaal took over - shared an image from the event on Instagram today.
"Look who came to The D for a special #Southpaw screening," Em said in the post's caption.
The Detroit MC clearly has a great deal of respect for Gyllenhaal's work in the film. “Seeing how Jake Gyllenhaal smashed this, it made sense that we still wanted something to do with the project,” he told Apple Music earlier this month, when asked about dropping out of acting in the picture. “So, we circled back around and said, ’What if we make music for it?'”
"Southpaw" is set to hit theaters July 24. Its soundtrack, which is being released through Shady Records, is slated to be out the same day.
