Listen To Another New Young Thug Song Now: 'I Need Chickens'

Police run-ins or not, Thug's musical output lately has been impressive.

Despite legal troubles, Young Thug has been on something of a roll with new music. Late Thursday night (July 16), Mike Will Made It posted a new collaboration between the two called "Pacifier," and yesterday, he added another new one called “I Need Chickens.”

A clever poultry metaphor extends throughout its lyrics — “Putting them birds in the buck, putting them birds in the truck,” Thug raps.

The production on “I Need Chickens” is more low-key than on "Pacifier," as Mike Will provides understated synth stabs and rolling percussion. Thug doesn’t hold back, though. His delivery is as caterwauling and charged as ever when he snarls his way through the catchy chorus.

Last Friday, we reported that Thug — born Jeffrey Lamar Williams — posted his $10,000 bail and left jail. He was arrested two days prior by U.S. Marshals after supposedly making “terroristic threats” against a security guard. Then police raided his home and added several new charges based on what they found: felony gun charges as well as cocaine and marijuana charges.

Meanwhile, Thug and Birdman have both been named in an indictment alleging that they were involved in a plot to shoot up Lil Wayne’s tour bus. Neither of them face charges.

This release comes as Thug is rolling out a new album called HiTunes, due later this summer.
