Mindy Kaling will be getting a surprise new spouse for the Season 4 premiere of "The Mindy Project." But before you scream because DANNY & MINDY 4EVER (we get it), it's totally not what you think.

As reported by Buzzfeed, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been added to the line-up of guest stars for the new season, which will hit Hulu later this year, and he's going to be getting all husbandly with our girl -- in an alternate reality.

Episode 1 is to be modeled after the 1998 dramedy "Sliding Doors," which showed how one split second can make a world of difference in a person's life. Which means Mindy's going to get a peek at what it'd be like to be married to a cool Bravo exec named Matt (played by JoGo), rather than dating her current beau Danny Castellano (Chris Messina).

Fun. And it's also a return of appearance favor for Gordon-Levitt, since Kaling and Messina both appeared on Season 2 of his variety show "Hit Record," with a short film they wrote and collaborated on together called "Anchors Away."

Interestingly enough, there was a dreamy theme there too.
