Here's Your Very First Look At MTV's 'The Shannara Chronicles'

See Terry Brooks' novels (finally) come to life!

The wait is over: The first official glimpse of MTV's "The Shannara Chronicles" has arrived (thanks, Comic-Con!), and the months of anticipation have definitely been worth it.

The post-apocalyptic world of Terry Brooks' best-selling novels jumps from pages to small-screen action, chronicling the tales of three young teens destined to complete a heroic quest thousands of years after the end of civilization.

In the nearly three-minute clip, there are plenty of moments to fuel the excitement of the "Shannara" fandom (epic battle scenes! mythical villains! Austin Butler!). We don't want to spoil too much, but expect to get a detailed glimpse into the shows' majestic landscape, where its human and non-human inhabitants endure love, loss and tragedy. From New Zealand's gorgeous scenery to stunning costumes, even Elven Princess Amberle (err -- Poppy Drayton) is in awe of how the fantasy series came to life in such vivid detail.

"The sets here are amazing. I cried the first time I saw the Ellcrys, I was so overwhelmed. I couldn't believe how beautiful it was," Drayton says.

And although the clip doesn't delve into specific plots, the cast promises that the new adaptation won't disappoint on storytelling.

"This is the ideal place for all of us lunatics who love to live in the world of imagination," says John Rhys-Davies, who plays King Eventine.
