Here's The Woman Who'll Be Kicking All The Butts As Elektra In 'Daredevil' Season 2

"The second life isn't like the first one, is it?" Sometimes it's even better.

The Punisher won't be the only newb to the ass-kicking scene in Netflix's second season of "Daredevil."

Marvel has just announced that one of the most high profile characters from the comics -- also one of our major wishlist item characters for Season 2 -- will also be joining the cool (read: lethal AF) kids in Hell's Kitchen, and this time it's none other than the red-clad ninja assassin herself, Elektra, who'll come along to play ... and slay.

French-Cambodian actress Elodie Yung has been chosen for the role, as first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, and a lot of fans are pretty jazzed to see a bit of diversity in casting the character (since Elektra is traditionally a Greek woman in the comics).

It's also pretty easy to envision Yung in the role right away since she's already proven she knows her way around a sword and looks ridiculously amazing in red thanks to her part as the warrior Jinx in 2013's "G.I. Joe: Retaliation."

Paramount Pictures

Marvel TV head honcho Jeph Loeb said in a statement that the search for the perf Elektra castmember went "worldwide" but that Elodie ultimately arrived as "the perfect actress to embody both Elektra's impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity. aired with Charlie [Cox] as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for."

"Daredevil" Season 2 will air in 2016.
