You might remember Yeezy pretended to interrupt the singer at this year's Grammys. He then said Beck needed to "respect artistry" by giving his Album of the Year award to Beyonce. Ye's since apologized, and now, the two artists may be contributing music to the same LP.
Q-Tip broke the news to Billboard in an interview Wednesday (Jul. 1), when he said Beck was among the artists set to appear on his forthcoming Last Zulu effort. But that's not all. Kanye -- who's worked with the A Tribe Called Quest MC/producer before -- might also make an appearance. During the interview, The Abstract was asked if he was working with Yeezus, and if SWISH had been scrapped.
"Yeah, Rick and I were gonna do the record, and Kanye went through different phases musically, so we've yet to reconnect on his project," he said. "We've met a few times and he's kept me up to speed here and there on what's happening. He's done the same with my record. We've been talking about some ideas for my record as well. We're still in step. It's not like [Kanye] scrapped any of it, that's a rumor."
Q-Tip's Last Zulu is also set to be released in Spanish and French and Portuguese, he said. Beyond that, he's also announced his own show - "Abstract Thought" - on Apple Music's Beats 1, according to a separate Billboard article.
