How To Find Your New, Perfectly-Matched Summer Foundation

Have you been "striped?"

Summer is officially in full swing, y'all, and if you've been hanging out by the beach (or plan to!), you gotta remember to keep your makeup in check–especially your foundation. Chances are you'll need to swipe up a new color during the warmer season thanks to all that time in the sun, but don't worry, we've got some tips on how to make sure that new shade is the perfect match for your tanner skin tone.

Get Striped

TV style correspondent Stacy Cox suggests the "stripes" test, which means taking three shades of makeup and striping it down your jaw to gauge which foundation is the best match for your complexion. She suggests COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation which is a primer, concealer, and foundation all in one.

Blend Outward

Apply the foundation to a makeup sponge, start in your T-zone (since it's the area on your face that needs the most coverage) and blend it out toward your hairline. Then, for typically redder areas around your nose and chin, you can add a tiny bit more product and press it into those spots.

Head To The Beach

If you plan to wear foundation at the pool, beauty expert Alexis Wolfer suggests something lighter and more hydrating like the COVERGIRL + Olay ToneRehab 2-in-1 Foundation so all that time in the sun doesn't dry you out.
