Is The 'Game Of Thrones' Comic-Con Announcement Another Sign Jon Snow Is Coming Back?

Hmmmmmm...

We've been picking apart the "Game of Thrones" Season 5 finale episode like it's our job -- because, well, it is -- making sure to leave no stone un-turned in the search for Jon Snow's possible route of return to the game in Season 6 (or perhaps 7, if needs be).

Because he just has to, right? RIGHT? Right.

The latest theory supporting a sure Snow revival, stemming from the folks at Vanity Fair, is definitely good enough to add to the pile of evidence.

See, HBO announced its 2015 San Diego Comic-Con line-up for the series on Tuesday (June 23), and two names were noticeably absent from the roster: author George R.R. Martin and actor Kit Harrington.

Now, Martin's absence was pretty well expected -- and, if he's going to be maniacally tapping out "The Winds Of Winter" the way he said he would, so hopefully the showrunners can follow his lead with the forthcoming storylines, then we say skip away, GRRM.

But Harington's empty seat at the round (OK, rectangular) table is a bit more surprising, and here's why: As VF points out, the last few "Game of Thrones" Comic-Con panels have given the Big Loss Character of the season a huge Hall H-sized send-off from the series -- including Rose Leslie (Ygritte), Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell a.k.a."The Red Viper"), and Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo).

This way, the actor gets to dish all s/he wants about being a part of the series and say goodbye to the cast and fans and feel all warm and wonderful inside. Or, in the likelier case, so that fans can get a chance to force a mock tribunal and get their most pressing questions answered face-to-face. A trial by fire, in essence. (Regards to Shireen.)

Which begs the question: Why wouldn't Harington have his day in the Comic-Con sun?

Maybe it's because he doesn't have the answer to those questions yet, and maybe it's because this isn't his final chance to stand smack dab in the middle of all the "Game"-centric nerdery. Maybe there's a lot more coming from Jon Snow that we don't yet know about -- which would explain the color-changing eyes and all those other signs he's not done.

(Unless he makes a surprise appearance and seals the deal on our broken hearts. But we'll only believe that when we see it.)

While we hold onto hope and continue to scour Westeros for signs of Snow's life, the cast who will be present at the 2015 Comic-Con panel for "GoT" include Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Alfie Allen (Theon, formerly referred to as "Reek"), Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell), Carice van Houten (Melissandre), John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth), Conleth Hill (Varys), Hannah Murray (Gilly), and Liam Cunningham (Ser Davos Seaworth). The panel will take place on Friday, July 10 at 2:30 p.m. PT in Hall H.

All we know is, questions are coming.
