J.K. Rowling's Twitter feed was as quiet as a mouse hiding in the Room of Requirement for a long, long time. But over the past year, she decided to put hands to keyboard and made magic happen as she emerged as one of the most must-follow tweeters of all time with all her "Harry Potter" and "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them" deet-shelling. And we were all reaping the benefits of her web-based benevolence.
But now it looks like Jo is taking another indefinite break from her social networking savvy, thanks to a few internet meanies who decided to rip into her and ruin it for everyone.
Over the weekend, Rowling was the recipient of some seriously harsh words during a typical-for-her round of Scottish political discussion.
At first, it started out as a bit of spirited disagreement.
So, she turned to memes and sarcasm for some solidarity.
Then it got a little more intense, but she hung in.
Things were starting to get pretty serious...
So, her fans started trying to outnoise all the sourpusses.
Meanwhile, J.K. tried to keep her sense of composure.
She even slipped in a fun "Potter"ish pun for good measure.
But then this guy whipped out the c-word. And it was not good.
She still kept her head up and didn't let the one guy's harsh verbiage speak for everyone.
And she totally KEPT CALM and wrote smart.
However, she still quickly issued a brief goodbye-for-now e-speech that has us all torn up inside.
We miss you already, @JK_Rowling.
