Brace yourselves, Beliebers and Swifties: a heavenly collaboration may be in our midst.
Justin Bieber answered our prayers and made our hearts swell with hope on Thursday night (June 18), when he hinted that he’d like to reunite with Taylor Swift onstage. To which he suitably reacted as such:
It all started when Billboard tweeted that Taylor’s currently sitting pretty atop the Billboard Artist 100, while Justin has returned to the chart’s top 40 for the first time in more than nine months.
Justin responded to the tweet, saying, “she is great. Might be time to make things right and hit the stage together again ;)”
YEP, you read that right — Justin thinks Taylor is “great.” He wants to make things “right” and “hit the stage together again.” WINKY FACE!
In case you need a refresher on Justin and Tay’s adorable friendship and collaborative history, just look at these amazing times they teamed up together:
2009: Justin breaks his foot while opening for Taylor in London.
Poor Biebs. He was invited to open for Tay at the famous Wembley Arena in London in November 2009, but his set ended prematurely after he tripped onstage and rolled his ankle. Ever the pro, he managed to finish his final song “One Time” before being taken to the hospital.
In a cute backstage video, Taylor and Justin explained what happened, saying he took her cue to “break a leg” a little too seriously.
2011: Justin crashes Taylor’s concert to perform “Baby.”
Putting a video here is almost entirely useless because all you can hear are earth-shattering screams. But seriously, what would YOU do if JB suddenly appeared onstage and he and Taylor tore through his biggest hit, trading verses and cute smiles with one another? Yeah, that’s what we thought.
2012: Justin pranks Taylor on an epic episode of MTV’s “Punk’d.”
This is peak Jaylor right here. Justin fooled the hell out of Taylor after he made her believe she had ruined a couple’s wedding day, leaving her in literal tears and cementing their hilarious friendship forever.
2012: They collaborated on a track that STILL hasn’t seen the light of day :(Youtube/Giphy
Taylor reportedly worked with Justin on a track for his 2012 album Believe. But even though Justin’s then-girlfriend Selena Gomez teased the song as "beautiful," it unfortunately didn’t make the album’s final cut. Justin’s manager, Scooter Braun, later told MTV News the song didn’t make sense for Believe, but that “there’s another record they want to work on.” And we’ve been not-so-patiently waiting ever since.
But this new revelation that Justin wants to perform with Taylor again is music to our ears. She's been bringing out a ton of celeb guests on her 1989 World Tour, and we could totally see Justin joining the lineup at some point. So c’mon guys... let’s make this happen!
