'Harry Potter' Spin-off 'Fantastic Beasts' Has Found Its Fantastic Leading Lady

An "Inherent Vice" star is ready to search for some beasts.

We may not know how or where to find fantastic beasts, but we do know who's going to be starring alongside Eddie Redmayne in the upcoming film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them": Katherine Waterston, who recently turned heads as Shasta in "Inherent Vice," and will soon star in "Steve Jobs" alongside Michael Fassbender.

"Katherine Waterston is a rising star, who was a revelation in our film Inherent Vice, earning the praise of both critics and audiences,” Warner Bros.’ president of creative development and worldwide production, Greg Silverman, said in a release. “We are thrilled to have her back in the Warner Bros. family, especially in one of our most anticipated titles for 2016, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

EW reports that Waterston will take on the role of Porpentina (Tina, for short), a character who eventually marries Redmayne's Ministry of Magic employee Newt Scamander. She has a younger sister named Queenie who is yet to be cast, and will join Scamander as they track beasts of various fantastic-ness in New York City.

The film -- which will be directed by long-time "Harry Potter" helmer David Yates -- is scheduled to be released on November 18, 2016.
