No, Lil Wayne Isn't Signed To Jay Z's Roc Nation

The 'Glory' rapper is definitely excited about his recent Tidal deal, though.

The internet exploded Saturday night after Lil Wayne dropped what fans interpreted as some pretty big news. During his set at the KMEL Summer Jam in Oakland, the rapper announced, "I just signed a deal with my motherf--king idol Jay Z."

Given Lil Wayne's ongoing concerns at Cash Money Records, the world understandably jumped to the conclusion that he joined Jay Z's record label, Roc Nation:

But this isn't the case. A source close to Lil Wayne has confirmed with MTV News that the Jay Z deal that the rapper referenced Saturday night was in reaction to the deal that Wayne recently signed with Tidal and has nothing to do with any rumored deal with Jay's Roc Nation.

As we previously reported, Lil Wayne revealed on Wednesday, June 3 that he is now an artist owner at Tidal. He exclusively premiered his new track, "Glory" from the Free Weezy Album, on the streaming service.
