After more than a decade of dating, Nicki Minaj and her longtime boyfriend Safaree “SB” Samuels broke things off last year, and there are still some painful feelings lingering.
Up until to this point, SB has been very gracious when asked about the dissolution of his relationship with Nicki. During interviews he’s reiterated that he will always wish her the best and support her career, but it seems like something changed recently.
SB has been pursuing his own rap career, and in a snippet from his new song “Love the Most,” he has some harsh words for his ex.
There’s no doubt that the song is directed at Nicki, since he even makes reference to one of her Pinkprint singles, rapping “we both went to sleep in the same ‘Bed of Lies.’"
Elsewhere he addresses how painful it was to watch her interactions with other men in the industry, including on the set of her "Right By My Side" video. “Had to watch you kiss Nas and pretend it’s all cool/Inside I was feeling like a motherf--king fool,” he raps.
He also admits that it was difficult to see their relationship fall apart after twelve years ("thought you would've had my kid") and seems to indicate that there was some other trouble in paradise, adding, "Yeah I know I'm not perfect, you was paying all the bills/ You remember what you told me when you wasn't on them pills?"
Perhaps this song is a reaction to Nick's new relationship with Meek Mill?
SB has previously complained that he wasn't able to be affectionate with the YMCMB rapper in public, so watching them exchange "I love you's" at Summer Jam couldn't have been easy.
