Robert “Pumpkinhead” Diaz, a veteran Brooklyn MC, died Tuesday (Jun. 9) of unknown causes. He was 39.
Pumpkinhead's Career Remembered
The rapper - who also went by PH - was celebrated as an independent MC for projects like Orange Moon Over Brooklyn. Over the course of his career, he also collaborated with a slew of performers including Talib Kweli, Immortal Technique and Royce Da 5’9”.
PH's Battle Rap Career Celebrated
PH also made a name for himself in rap battles. The veteran rhymer went toe-to-toe with some of the most prominent MCs in different leagues over the years, including Dizaster and Dumbfoundead on Grind Time and The Saurus on King of the Dot.
Pumpkinhead Mourned
Many of Pumpkinhead’s friends, fans, collaborators and battle rap peers mourned his passing on social media today.

Diaz is survived by two sons and a wife who is currently expecting a daughter, according to Rolling Stone. Rest in peace, PH.
