In the first "Insidious" movie, audiences were introduced to both the Lipstick-Face Demon that feasted on the soul of poor, astral-projecting Dalton, and the terrifying Old Woman who sank her claws into Josh and Elise (Lin Shaye). "Insidious: Chapter 2" gave that same Old Woman a backstory, and now "Chapter 3" is officially here to give you your most terrifying look at a Further demon yet -- "The Man Who Can't Breathe."
MTV News has seen "Chapter 3" and can verify that MWCB is the type of guy who keeps you up half the night then haunts your nightmares once sleep finally arrives, so when we caught up with the cast at a press day ahead of the film's release, we just had to ask what it was like working with him on set.
"I'm really happy with the way people are responding to him, because he seems to be triggering some bad feelings in people," actor and director Leigh Whannell said with a laugh.
"He's so gross and disgusting and evil," new star Stefanie Scott added. "And he's violent, he's not just a ghost haunting the house."
What makes MWCB so viscerally horrifying is his sickly, decrepit appearance -- and his motivations, but we're not going to spoil those for you -- as well as his mask, so we definitely feel for Shaye, Scott, Whannell and Dermot Mulroney, who all admitted to being spooked by the actor, Michael Reid MacKay, at different times throughout the shoot.
"He is death itself, whatever version of that scares you the most is what that monster is," Mulroney said. "Any other actor you'd sort of say 'good morning' and 'how're you doing' and 'nice to meet you' but the first time I'm meeting this demon, he's in full regalia -- and really horrifying!"
Bet your coworkers don't seem so bad now in comparison, huh?
"Insidious: Chapter 3" slithers into theaters slowly but surely on June 5.
