GIANT SPOILERS for "Star Wars #6" follow!! You've been warned, human.
Han Solo and Princess Leia from "Star Wars" are one of pop culture's greatest couples, but they had to jump through a lot of hurdles to get there -- like Han being a scruffy nerf herder who doesn't know how to express his feelings ("I know?" C'mooooon), or Leia not being interested in a dude who can't take political rebellion seriously.
Welp, things are about to get a whole lot tougher for their star-destroyer-crossed love -- because in today's issue of the official "Star Wars" comic, which takes place between "A New Hope" and "The Empire Strikes Back," we find out about a GIANT secret Han's been keeping. Better start Kessel runnin' because you are in TROUBLE, bro.
Okay, ready for this? (You aren't ready for this.)
Yup, Han Solo's MARRIED. To a brand new character, Sana, who seems... well, pretty awesome except that she's getting in the way of my OTP. Dig the scarf, girl. Really accentuates your giant blaster.
There could be mitigating factors at work here, of course -- maybe they're estranged or divorced! Or maybe it's a "Firefly" situation and Han Solo was partying on some backwoods planet unaware that he was actually getting wed at the time. After all, Solo's not exactly letting his marital status get in the way of hardcore flirting with Leia:
I mean, sure, he SAYS he wasn't trying to seduce her, but you don't break out Corellian wine unless you've got someone to impress.
So what does this mean for the future of "Star Wars?" After all, unlike the old "Expanded Universe" the new run of comics are considered canonical, meaning that they're official parts of the franchise now. We'll have to wait until issue #7 comes out to find out more, but personally I'm hoping that writer Jason Aaron doesn't kill off Sana to make room for Leia and Han -- I'd much rather see the two women become friends over their shared annoyance with Solo. Sisters before smugglers, yo.
