Lindsay Lohan Is Off Probation For The First Time In 8 Years — Here’s What She Should Do Next

The actress is kissing her legal woes goodbye and celebrating her "fresh start" and "clean slate."

After eight years on probation, Lindsay Lohan is finally ready for a “clean slate.”

A Los Angeles judge ruled Thursday (May 28) that the actress has completed her sentence, closing the last in a series of criminal cases that have plagued her for years.

Though she wasn’t at Thursday’s hearing, Lohan tweeted a sweet message thanking her supporters, and declared it a “clean slate” and a “fresh start.”

The 28-year-old also posted a celebratory snap on Instagram, captioning it, “Hard work pays off. Thank you to all those that allowed me to volunteer while in nyc. God bless you all. Amen.”

Lohan has been convicted in three cases since 2007 — a drunken driving case, a theft case, and a reckless driving case. During the past eight years, she’s made dozens of court appearances, had brief stints in jail, and had several violations that landed her in rehab. Earlier this year, a judge ordered her to redo 125 hours of community service after she missed the deadline last year.

With all of her legal drama now behind her, the world is watching to see what Lohan will do next. In the spirit of new beginnings, we’ve crafted a wish list of six things we want Lindsay to do to make sure her “fresh start” kicks off with happiness and success.

  1. Return to her brilliant comedy roots.

Say what you want about Lindsay, but at the end of the day, there’s no denying the girl has serous acting skills. Her last few roles have been in heavier and more dramatic films like “The Canyons” and “Machete,” each of which got so-so reviews by audiences and critics alike. It almost seemed like Lindsay was trying too hard to prove that she’s a ~serious~ actress by abandoning her comedy roots and taking on more risqué roles. Ask anyone about their fave LiLo films, though, and they’ll undoubtedly point to her golden era of “Mean Girls,” “Freaky Friday,” and “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.” If Lindsay does choose to return to the big screen — which she definitely should! — we hope it’ll be in lighter films that show off her true hilarity and wit.

  2. Keep prioritizing her health.

Judging by her workout selfies and meal snaps on Instagram, Lindsay appears to be dedicated to taking care of herself by eating well and working out. In other words, her current state of health is a far cry from the days when her weight was constantly criticized in tabloids and her partying behavior was physically wearing her down. Thankfully, the girl is absolutely glowing lately and has never looked better!

  3. Dabble in some music.

Lindsay recently reminisced about her short-lived music career on the 10-year anniversary of her debut album, Speak, reminding us just how much we miss hearing her catchy, raspy voice. OK, so she wasn’t Mariah Carey or anything, but she has some bona fide jams back in the day. A return to music seems a bit far-fetched, but who knows — the world is her oyster!

  4. Look up to positive role models in the industry.

When in doubt, just ask yourself: WWMD (what would Meryl do?).

  5. Continue giving us stellar style inspiration.

Lindsay’s kept modeling in fashion campaigns over the years, which is awesome because she has amazing style (seriously — just peruse her Instagram if you ever need O.O.T.D. inspiration).

  6. And if she chooses to disappear from the spotlight for a bit, that’s OK — just check in from time to time!

Lindsay’s been living in London, where she says the media attention around her is less intrusive, so we’d totally understand if she decides to keep laying low for a while. After all, she’s been through a lot and is still young enough to do seemingly anything she wants with her life. All we ask is that she keep us updated and maybe pop in from time to time so we can see that contagious smile and be reassured she’s still holding it down. #TeamLiLo all the way!
