Homecoming Queen Dies In Texas Flood

Also, 10 threats against flights and B.B. King's daughters claim he was murdered.

Extreme Weather in Texas And Oklahoma Leaves Dozen Missing

After five years of severe drought, Texas is getting soaked by deadly storms. Severe flooding, heavy rains, hail, flash floods and tornadoes over the Memorial Day weekend destroyed more than 400 homes, killed at least five and caused evacuations, while 12 family members were reported missing after their vacation home was washed away.

The storms also took the life of homecoming queen Alyssa Ramirez, 18, a cheerleader, student council president and volleyball player at Devine High School, whose car was swept off the road by floodwaters on Sunday on her way back from Saturday night’s dance. She was just two miles from her home when her car stalled in rising waters and a flash flood overtook the vehicle. In another freightening story, a bouncy castle set up on a Florida beach took flight on Monday with three kids inside it, after a water spout sent it flying, injuring all three children.

10 Airline Threats Over Weekend

On one of the busiest travel weekend of the year, more than half a dozen flights were hit by unconfirmed threats. After someone allegedly told authorities about a "chemical weapons threat" on a flight from France on Monday morning, fighter jets escorted it to the ground with no incident. A similar threat was made against a Saudi Arabian flight and another on an American Airlines plane from England, with authorities finding no credible evidence of terrorist activity. They were among 10 threats directed at planes on Monday, none of which were deemed credible.

Daughters Claim B.B. King Was Murdered

Mystery now surrounds the death of late blues giant B.B. King. Two of King’s daughters are claiming in affidavits filed over the weekend that the guitar player’s longtime business manager, LaVerne Toney, poisoned him to death; King died at age 89 in Las Vegas on May 14. Though the claims say King was allegedly given medication to induce diabetic shock, a coroner says preliminary autopsy results don’t support the allegations and lawyers for Toney called the allegations "ridiculous." Las Vegas homicide detectives are investigating the case, with test results up to eight weeks away.

Trying not to see each other before their big day, the shot of Cpl. Caleb Earwood and Maggie Earwood pulled heartstrings over the Memorial Day holiday honoring America’s war heroes.
