Having a rough week? Need a little pick-me-up? Well, it's time to turn that frown upside down because Max Joseph has blessed humanity with the greatest
eye candy gift of all: never-before-seen pics of Zac Efron. (BLESS YOU, MAX).
In case you haven't already heard, Efron takes on leading-man duties in Joseph's upcoming directorial debut, "We Are Your Friends," a coming-of-age drama that tells the story of an ambitious young DJ who tries to hit a high note in the EDM world, all while finding himself at the ultimate romantic crossroads: He falls for his mentor's girlfriend.
Now that the cameras have wrapped, the "Catfish" host is giving us an exclusive, behind-the-scenes glimpse into the making of the movie, which involved Efron working the soundbooth like a true pro:
And looking incredibly gorgeous even with his back to turned to the camera:
(Oh, hi there, Wes Bentley.)
But in all seriousness, Joseph believes "people are going to be really pleasantly surprised" when it comes to Efron's latest role, telling MTV News: "It's a balanced performance, and I think people are going to wake up and say 'Holy sh**, Zac Efron!' He was funny in 'Neighbors' and great elsewhere, but this movie really steps up his game."
"It's really a story about that transition from being a kid to being an adult in today's world and what that means," Joseph said about the movie's overall message. "Music and festivals and DJs are kind of the cultural touchstones that we're seeing right now on MTV and social media — we wanted to make a movie about growing up and have that type of music be the pulse of the story."
"We Are Your Friends" also stars Emily Ratajkowski and Jonny Weston, and hits theaters August 28. Be sure to stay with MTV News for more updates on its release and the new season of "Catfish," premiering on Wednesday, July 8 at 10/9c!
