Mariah Carey may have bronchitis, but that isn't keeping the diva away from Sunday's Billboard Music Awards. The singer had canceled her Las Vegas shows earlier this week, but when it comes to her appearance at the BBMAs, the show must go on.
On Friday (May 15), MC posted an Instagram video with her music director Jim Wright, who "demands her to stop talking right now." Mimi, however, can't keep her mouth shut. Oh, Mimi.
The singer told her fans on Thursday morning that her doctor had put on mandatory vocal rest due to the illness. Carey had just opened her residency, #1 To Infinity, at Caesars Palace on May 6. Her greatest hits album of the same name, which includes her new song, "Infinity," drops on Monday, May 18.
Mariah is one of the many performers at the Billboard Music Awards, including Chris Brown, Pitbull, Fifth Harmony, Kelly Clarkson, Imagine Dragons (who will play "Stand by Me" as a tribute to the late Ben E. King), Hozier, Nick Jonas, Tori Kelly, Ed Sheeran, Van Halen, Kanye West, Fall Out Boy featuring Wiz Khalifa, Little Big Town and Faith Hill, Nicki Minaj and David Guetta, Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea, Meghan Trainor featuring John Legend, Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth and Lindsey Stirling, and Empire stars Jussie Smollett and Bryshere "Yazz" Gray singing with Estelle. The Awards will air at May 17 at 8 p.m. ET, starting with the premiere of Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" music video.
