Intimidatingly talented and beautiful superhuman Cara Delevingne has added another movie role to her already overflowing list of credits — and this time, she’s going futuristic on us.
The 22-year-old model has just landed a lead role in the upcoming sci-fi saga “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets,” based on the popular French graphic novel of the same name.
The news was announced by Luc Besson, the film’s director, writer and producer, in a series of tweets that he adorably noted were his first ones ever. Not a bad way to enter the Twittersphere!
Besson — who has also helmed sci-fi thrillers “The Fifth Element” and “Lucy” — followed up with even more news, including the film’s two leads: Delevingne and Dane DeHaan (“The Amazing Spider-Man 2”).
Delevingne and DeHaan will play a pair of time-traveling agents named Valerian and Laureline who “help defend a utopian 28th-century Earth and its neighboring planets from bad guys,” according to Deadline. The two actors are also appearing together in the upcoming 17th century drama “Tulip Fever.”
As a style-related aside, It’s also important to note that, in the comics, Laureline has long, red hair — so we could be seeing a major dye job in Delevingne’s future!
Even though “Valerian” isn’t slated to hit the big screen until 2017, Besson also unveiled the film’s spiffy-looking logo.
This is just the latest in a slew of upcoming roles for Delevingne. She’s set to appear in “Paper Towns” this summer, has already shot “Pan” and “London Fields,” and is currently filming “Suicide Squad” for release next year.
On another note, if anyone can prove that Delevingne has ever had time to sleep at night, please let us know because all evidence points to the contrary.
